    Model Industrial Training Institute (MITI), Haldwani was established to impart training  under restructure pattern of Craftsmen Training Programme  in Mechanical Group of Trades . The Institute is situated at Nainital Road, Haldwani, Kathgodam, Nainital (Uttranchal.).The  Broad Based Basic Training (B.B.B.T.) for one year in different skill areas of the trade group is imparted so that a broad foundation is laid at the end of first year of training. 

Broad Based Basic Training (B.B.B.T.):    The  course is designed to develop Broad Base  covering the mechanical group of trades so as to enable the trainees to acquire multiskill of varied nature within the trade group 

Eight skill areas (each of six weeks duration )   Milling , Welding , Grinding , Shaping/Slotting , Turning , Sheet Metal Working , Fitting , Basic Electricity :

At the end of first year basic training there would be All India Trade Test conducted by National Council for Vocational Training and a  "National Trade Certificate in Basic Taining "   is awarded to successful trainees. Those who complete the basic training successfully may opt for any one of the following  alternatives :-

a) Work as an operator or semi-skilled worker.

b) Join the industry as an apprentice.

c) Join the industry as a trade apprentice under the Apprentices Act, 1961.

d) Undergo further institutional training in one or more  following modules  in the institute . 

i) Operating Centre Lathe                              - 6 months

ii) Operating Milling Machine                         - 6 months

iii) Operating Shaper,Slotter,Planner Machine  - 6 months

iv) Fitter (General)                                           - 6 months

v) Metrology & Engg.Inspection                     - 6 months

vi) Machine Tool Maintenance                        - 6 months

vii) Operating Capstain & Turret Lathe            - 6 months

viii) Tool & Die Making (Press Tools, jigs & Fixtures) - 2 &1/2 years

After completion of  modular training in specialised module in second year , All India Trade test will be conducted by NCVT.  & Proficiency certificate would  be awarded to successful trainees . These certificates are recognised by Government of India for the purpose of recruitment to subordinate services and posts for which National trade Certificate is a recognised qualification.

ENTRY QUALIFICATION :Matriculation with Science & Mathematics as subjects.

Age : 14 to 25 years

Session : September to August

Mode of selection : Application are invited for admission after releasing an  advertisement notice in the Employment News Paper . Application in the prescribed proforma may be sent to the principal  along with  prescribed application & registration fee . Selection is done purely on the basis of the marks obtain in matriculation or equivalent examination .

Tuition Fee : Rs.20/- per month or part thereof payable in two six monthly instalments. In addition, the trainee has to deposit caution money of Rs.50/- which is refundable at successful completion of training, and library caution money of Rs.30/-. No tuition fee shall be charged from the SC/ST and physically handicapped trainees.

Registration Fee - Rs 10/-

Application form fee - Rs. 5/- per form

Reservation- Seats are reserved for SC/ST candidates as per Govt. rules . Some seats are reserved for physically handicapped candidates who have aptitude and are otherwise fit to undergo such training.
